Folio number
Reviewed by FOLO Editorial · Last reviewed August 6, 2026
A folio number is an investor's unique account number with one specific mutual fund house. Investing across three different fund houses means holding three separate folio numbers, one per house.
Unlike a demat account, which can hold securities from many sources under one number, a folio covers only that one fund house's schemes. This is a common reason investors end up with holdings scattered across several folios without realising it.
